Summary on Grant Application Form |
The research proposed builds on existing research in the area of domain analysis for planning. Previous work of Fox and Long in the area is highly regarded internationally. Research into domain analysis is increasingly seen as a key issue for international community working in the theory and application of planning. The UK (in the work at Durham and Huddersfield) is at the leading edge of research in this area. Additionally the work of the Durham group is a radical departure from previous research (concentrating on type based analysis rather than inductive analysis of operators) but has already demonstrated a high degree of success in attacking important theoretical and application issues (correctly generating invarients and demonstrating their effectiveness in improving planner performance). The work proposed will lead to further work of the very highest international quality in an area within which the UK is seen as a world leader.
