Summary on Grant Application Form |
The importance of modelling and analytical procedures for determining the effective dynamical equation governing the large scale turbulent reaction front has long been recognised because the direct numerical calculation is usually very expensive and time consuming for high Reynolds number turbulent reactive flow. The basic problem in turbulent combustion under flamelet assumption is to assess the influence of continuum spectrum of spatio/temporal scales on the macroscopic behaviour of reaction front. Recently a great deal of progress has been made in this areas by using renormalisation procedures, but the results are restricted to simple turbulent velocity fields (two separated length scales, shear flow, zero mean value, etc.) We intend to remove the restrictions mentioned above by considering three-dimensional random velocity field with arbitrary many spatial and temporal scales and taking into account the effect of advection of front by random velocity field with nonzero mean value, inhomogeneity of turbulent flow and effects of boundary heat loss. We will employ the renormalisation theory for turbulent transport involving singular perturbation method for small values of the ratio of the Kolmogorov length scale to the integral length scale and averaging method over stochastic characteristics.
