Summary on Grant Application Form |
In this project our activity will be to provide technical support and training for the UK atomistic simulation community, and in addition to focus on three emerging areas of particle simulation application. Namely,a) The inclusion of 'on-the-fly' quantum mechanical effects in atomistic simulations.b) The application of atomistic simulation to mesoscale systems.c) The development of particle-based coarse-grained mesoscale simulation techniques to model, for example, colloids up to powders. These will be achieved by:i) Organising technical workshops, larger conferences, sponsoring collaborations and academic visitors from abroad.ii) Sponsoring the 'Simulation Spring School' held each year.iii) At Daresbury, develop and support the MD package DL-POLY and solid state codes.iv) Production of the CCP5 Newsletter and provide other electronic services.
