Summary on Grant Application Form |
Two extremely important trends have revolutionised the study of electrified interfaces over recent years. The first is the reduction of the dimensions of the electrified interface to the micrometre (and even nanometre) scale. The second is the development of modified electrodes, with diverse species such as polymers and self-assembled monolayers used to modify the interface. This proposal deals with the modification of the electrified interface with porous templates. Thereby creating an array of interfaces of micrometre, nanometre or sub-nanometre dimensions. Arrays will be generated at both the metal/liquid and liquid/liquid (oil/water) interfaces and the specific properties resulting from their unique size and architecture will be exploited.
