Summary on Grant Application Form |
It is proposed to create a central SoXMaS facility at the SMS, Daresbury Laboratory, and to bring together interested UK user groups to establish this novel technique as a standard experimental tool for the UK magnetism community. The PDRA, to be appointed on the grant, under supervision of the investigators will make improvements to an existing reflectometer by including a new detector, transverse axis, rotating magnet and cryogenic stage. Synchrotron radiation studies will be done in collaboration with UK University groups, which include studies of the magnetic and structural interface quality in magnetic multilayers and layered spin structures and an exploratory study on CMR in transition metal oxides.
