|
It is proposed to investigate a variety of route for the synthesis of glycosyl- a-aminonitriles. The compounds behaviour in aqueous solution will be elucidated with regard to the possibility that intramolecular pinner reaction and hydrolysis might result in homochiral amino acids. The potential production of pyrimidine nucleosides will also be studied. A putative 1, 3-dipolar intermediate will be sought by trapping experiments which, if successful , will lead to a series of intermediates useful for the synthesis of sugar analogues.
