Summary on Grant Application Form |
CISG has extensive experience in the fields of medical image registration and image guided surgery. We have several active projects in this area. All these projects involve tracking 3D points in physical space and using these to relate pre-operative images to interventional co-ordinates. Fitzpatrick has developed a mathematical framework for calculating and predicting errors in such systems. By collaborating with him we will improve the accuracy of our systems, and also enable the image guided surgery systems to predict errors on a patient-by-patient basis, which is not currently possible.
