Summary on Grant Application Form |
A range of hitherto unknown metal enolates will be prepared in pure form using transition metal catalysts to mediate isomerisation of allylic metal akoxide precursors. The structure and reactivity of the products will be examined with particular attention given to reactions such as the regio-and stereospecific generation of tetrasubstituted enolates which are problematic using the atom inefficient deprotonation of carbonyl compounds by amide bases. The use of chiral ligands around the metals, in conjunction with prochiral allylic alcohols should provide useful chiral units for synthesis.
