Summary on Grant Application Form |
The fundamental information obtained on hydrogen bonding will be of interest to structural chemists including those interested in molecular design and crystal engineering. Theoretical and computational chemists will benefit from information from neutron diffraction on relatively simple organic structures of current methods. Understanding the effect of pressure on intermolecular potentials in relatively soft systems will be of interest to both chemists and physicists. Information will be added to the existing structural databases, in which there is still a relatively low presence of neutron diffraction results, and few involving high pressure studies. Finally, the establishment of this technique on the SXD instrument will offer significantly improved opportunities for the user base in the UK.
