Summary on Grant Application Form |
The development of robust and efficient techniques for the simulation of viscous fluid flows arising from engineering applications is the principal goal of the project. The emphasis will be on the development of adaptive time-stepping algorithms and efficient iterative solution algorithms which are particularly needed in three-dimensional flow simulation. Issues that will be addressed include; the best choice of element, the need for mesh adaption using a posteriori error control, the choice of time-integrator and associated temporal error control. We anticipate that progress in these aspects would complement and boost research effort directed to large eddy simulation models of turbulent flow.
