The ARROW project is designed to prepare the Accessibility Research Group (ARG) to become a world leading resource for accessibility research. The project will use a Platform Grant to support two senior research posts and contribute towards administrative support to enable the members of the group to develop their skills through exposure to leading international researchers and creative developments in key research fields. The ARROW researchers will spend 50% of their time supporting the other members of the ARG and the other half of their time developing their own fief and establishing their own research portfolio. These appointments will be at a senior level and one of them will enable the continuation of employment of an existing ARG researcher. The ARROW project is therefore a nuns to maintain continuity of research thinking and the consequent strengthening of the group's intellectual and creative resource. The ARROW project will also ensure that all researchers in the ARG will be able to take advantage of the best expertise available in the world in a number of fields, through travelling to high ranking research institutes and by inviting leading specialists to work with the group during the course of the project. Six Visiting Fellowships will provide international inputs to the ARG by working with the group over a period of three months each so that new skills in related areas can be assimilated and developed. The Fellowships will be facilitated but not funded by the Platform Grant. At the end of the project, the ARG will be at the threshold of new and exciting advances in accesibility research, ready to advance into the future on a secure knowledge base.
