Summary on Grant Application Form |
The aim is to develop an 'atom economical' way of carrying out the reaction between an amine and an unsaturated double bond. A number of late transition metal complexes with bound olefin molecules will be prepared. The structure of these complexes will be studied by spectroscopic techniques, to gain an insight into the fundamental interactions that could be correlated to their subsequent behaviour as catalysts. Catalytic reactions will then be carried out, and the selectivity of these reactions evaluated. The reaction conditions and a wide number of substrates and aminatin agents will be screened to test the scope and limitation of the system
