Summary on Grant Application Form |
Calculations of infrared absorption and scattering by polydisperse spray of fuel droplets using the original code developed by Dr Dombrovsky will be performed. Combining the results of the calculations with the data on spectral absorption coefficient of soot, which is the main radiating component of combustion products, the spectral characteristics of a mixture of combustion products and fuel droplets in the entire range of temperature and concentrations typical for diesel engines will be obtained. This will lead to the development of a model describing spectral dependence of the radiative properties of this mixture in the near infrared range. On the basis of previous investigations of similar problems of radiation heat transfer in two-phase mixtures in nuclear engineering (as applied to vapour explosion problem), we expect that the two-band presentation
