Summary on Grant Application Form
We propose to run two Summer Schools, in September 2002 and September 2004, on the theme'Cell adhesion and motility: the interface with tissue engineering'. School I will address the interaction of individual cells with biological surfaces. School 11 will be concerned with the behaviour of populations of cells growing and spreading on manufactured surfaces. Each School will provide surveys by leading research workers on fundamental cell biology, experimental techniques and technology, mathematical modelling and biomedical applications. Material will be delivered through lectures, tutorials and laboratory tours. The Schools will encourage and promote cross-disciplinary learning, thinking and communication, essential attributes for the next generation of researchers in tissue engineering.
