Summary on Grant Application Form |
We seek funding for an ambitious development of new methodologies and software to enable the UK community to interpret X-ray absorption spectra The proposed work will be of particular benefit in the area of near edge X-ray absorption spectra of solid state systems. X-ray absorption is a key technique used by both academic and industrial research groups. The proposed developments are especially timely and important given the UK's decision to build the new third generation synchrotron, DIAMOND. The ambitious developments are only possible because of the combined expertise of the CCP3 collaboration and hence the current grant represents an extremely cost effective way of introducing new, state of the art methods to the UK's experimental community.
