Summary on Grant Application Form |
Visualization is crucial in making e-Science work. It is through visualization that scientists will be able to understand the large datasets that are produced in Grid-based simulations. This proposal seeks to develop visualization middleware for e-Science by following a twin-track procedure. In strand of the work, two popular existing systems - IRIS Explorer from NAG and pV3 from MIT - will be 'Grid-enabled'. In the case of IRIS Explorer, t will build on an existing e-Science demonstrator and will allow collaborative visualization with a geographically dispersed research team. In the other strand of the work, the project will explore the use of XML as a description of visualization data and tasks. This will enable the descriptions to be passed between scientists, perhaps using different visualization systems. Furthermore, in combination with the first strand, it will enable an integrat of Grid and Web technologies to provide prototype Web Visualization Services.
