Summary on Grant Application Form
The ultimate aim of this platform grant is to facilitate long-term, innovative, generic research into SIC electronics technology. A principal function of th grant will be to support the retention of a core of expert research staff and provide for their career development within a secure and stable employment environment. The proposed research element of the grant will complement current and planned activities by allowing the Group to address speculative but strategically important issues associated with SIC electronics. These will include sensor technology, SIC integrated circuits (including logic celllibrary, MPU design), SIC power IC technology, Integrated packaging technologies (including interconnect, substrates etc.) and SIC device reliability testing methodologies. Finally, the grant will provide the means to develop and enhance links with internationally leading research groups around theworld. Activities will include short visits for fact-finding purposes and longer-term technical visits whose aim will be to support the training and career development of key contract research staff.
