Summary on Grant Application Form |
Describe the proposed research in about 200 words. The recent explosion of interest in the so called Semantic Web has also fuelled interest in ontologies. Reasoning with ontology languages will be crucial importance if the Semantic Web is to succeed in making Web resources more readily accessible to automated processes. The proposed research involves the study of ontology language design, in particular mappings to description logics, and the provision of effective reasoning services using highly optimised description logic systems.
