Summary on Grant Application Form |
The research will comprise the use of the two-point workability test apparatus for fresh concrete, built at at UCL, in the comparative rheometer test programme being organised by ACI Committee 236A, to be held at the Master Buiders laboratories, Cleveland, Ohio in the week commencing 19th May 2003The programme will involve simultaneous measurement of the rheological properties of fifteen concrete mixes, covering a wide range of rheological behaviour. The organisers have requested participation of the two-point test, the first such instrument to be developed, along with at least four other rheometers subsequently developed elsewhere. Set-up and testing will take place over a five-day period. The results will enable quantitative evaluation of the performance of the test systems, and rigorous comparison of results obtained from them. The outcome will assure users and specifiers of materials that the results of rheology tests are universally comparable. The subsequent report will be published by NIST, and be freely available. This testing week is the second in this project, and seeks to extend the range of mixes and their component materials tested in the first week, held at LCPC, Nantes, France in 2000. Four of the instruments, including the UCL two-point test, participated in this.
