Summary on Grant Application Form |
The Release project will be built on existing work in the Centre for Software Maintenance and in particular from the IDENT project that developed a 10 step method and associated techniques for reverse engineering legacy systems. This existing research concentrated on identifying low level objects in code and was not concerned with broader systems or business issues. This new project will take this higher level view and will set out to identify and analyse the techniques to represent results of the analysis to the business analyst. The research will bridge the gap between the operational level of code and the conceptual level of the business process model. Through this deeper understanding, the business concepts embedded within systems will be available to the business analysts.
