Summary on Grant Application Form
proposal seeks to extend the funding of the Sheffield Central Facility for III-V Semiconductors for a four yeariod.` The case is based on the unique and highly strategic position which the Facility holds, as the major ..~)eider to EPSRC grant holders, of high quality, complex epitaxial multilayers in the (InGaAl)/(ASPSb) materialstem and in the provision of a widely used device fabrication service. We also request funds for a new growthctor to establish a high level capability in the important GaN materials system. There are currently 48 grantst 32 user groups in UK universities drawing on the Facility. The proposal also describes separate EPSRC-fundedearch programmes designed to bring new state-of-the-art capabilities on-stream to grant holders. We expect totinue to work with the 30 or more academic groups with whom we have collaborated very closely in the past inport of their EPSRC funded grants, together with any successful newcomers. Our strong interaction with theiconductor IRC materials will continue during the remainder of the IRC funding. Existing close interactions willmaintained with Epichem, V G Semicon, M R Semicon, E.P.I., PRP Optoelectronics and DRA (Malvern)in the areas ofgents, reactors, growth and devices.
