Summary on Grant Application Form
The aim of this project is to develop a range of novel microporous inorganic framework structures related to the titanosilicate ETS-10. The range of frameworks will contain vanadium, niobium, tin, silicon, aluminium and gallium amongst other metals. These structures are related to zeolites but contain framework elements in both octahedral and tetrahedral co-ordination. The research will involve synthesis, characterisation, structural determination and measurement of catalytic and gas separation properties. In particular novel multi-quantum solid-state NMR techniques will be used to identify cation sites. Applications will be examined in collaboration with British Petroleum and the British Oxygen Company.
