Summary on Grant Application Form
The research network on Diamond and diamond-like carbon is designed to enhance the collaboration between those in UK universities and companies working on all aspects of these materials. It includes most of the groups working on the growth, characterisation and theoretical modelling of diamond and DLC, and the design of devices using these materials in the UK. The network will encourage excellence in this research to ensure that the UK's position at the forefront of research in the field can be exploited by UK industry. Students and young researchers will be given funding to allow them to visit other facilities and groups in the UK and to attend international conferences. Network meetings will allow all aspects of UK research in the field to be discussed and put in the context of international work. The network will review the research on diamond and diamond-like carbon and advise on productive future directions.
